My Dear Tribalist

to the tribalist

UgoTalksAlot

This Arguement has been on long before Nigeria’s independence. It seemed to climax during the Biafran War/ Nigerian Civil War, after that it just became something we all “got used to.” Whether it is the argument that “Yorubas are dirty”, “Igbos are Money-centric”, “Hausas are dull” or even “Edos are all witches” we have all heard them before. Time has seen the sentiments metamorphose to include statements like “let the northerners just go, we will be a lot better without them.”

We claim we are not tribalists because the word “tribalist” like “racist” is not a word you want to be used in any 30 second biography of yours. However, you still don’t want to marry an Edo woman because you are convinced that there must be a witch in her family, yet you have forgotten there are witches in yours also.

You are too quick to point out that…

10 Things Pastors Hate To Admit Publicly

A wonderful article i saw online

A Pastor's Blog; by Russell Korets

pastorRecently, @pastorboz posted an article on the 10 Things Pastors Hate to Admit Publicly. The article was great, painful, and truthful, and therefore, I wanted to share it with my readers.

Please pray for your pastor daily. He needs it.  Here are the 10 things:

#1. We Take It Personally When You Leave The Church.

It’s just a straight up fact. We pastors eat, drink and sleep the local church and with that have a deep desires to see it thrive. Therefore when you leave to another church because…

  • you’re bothered by a recent decision, but didn’t ask about it…
  • the new church has a bigger and better kids wing, youth group, worship team, building space, (fill in your blank)…
  • your friends started going there…

… it hits us personally.

For us it feels disloyal, shallow or consumer driven. People affirm that church is a family, thus when you up…

does bragging equate self-confidence?

I wonder sometimes: why do people feel the need to brag? Do they get a kick out of it? Does it make them FEEL more important? Does it make them THINK that others THINK highlyof their social slash financial worth? Does a person who brags display an overflow of confidence or a lack of it?

The dictionary defines bragging as talking boastfully. It usually refers to someone talking with an over-bloated impression of their own self-worth. People brag about differentthings which may include their job, finances, cars, the number of people they have ‘dashed’ money, the number of girls they have slept with, how many countries they have been to…and so on. Some people feel it is okay to brag about their achievements and even a traditional African proverbcredits the lizard with nodding its head and thus praising itself after ‘falling’ from a height, because if it doesn’t praise itself, who will? LOL

Well, yeah but the way some go about it is the focus of this post. To them bragging is like taking shots of an ego-boosting drink, which they are addicted to. And with stuff of that nature, it is difficult to live without it.With this group of people, they NEED to brag because they need to constantly get that feel-good sensation; they need to constantly reassure themselves that they are doing okay. By HEARING themselves talk to others about their possessions and achievements, and by watching thelooks of admiration and envy on the faces of their listeners, their ego is massaged and their confidence tank which was previously running on empty, is once again topped up.

The big question is: Does a Braggart show that he is brimming with too much confidence? Or does he in fact unknowingly show that he is masking the pathetic reality of his self-worth? Personally I think it goes both waysand you have to have a very keen sense of perception to detect which is on display. Most times, those people that brag about ‘dumb’ (well…) and inconsequential things are usually the ones that are struggling with self-confidence issues. They always want to be the ‘main attraction’, the one that people SHOULD be listening to. They make sure they always have things to say about THEMSELVES;where they went to last week, who they met, how everyone was staring because they were dripping with swag (yeah right), how they need to get the latest car in town, how much they splurged at girlfriend number 5’s birthday party, how ‘babym’ couldn’t get enough of them…*coughs*… sexually, how they just need to travel out of ‘this place’ for a ‘chilling trip’ (to Europe) because ‘mehn’ this Naija sun is too ‘hot

The thing is, it is not a question of WHAT is said as much as HOW it is being said. Those brimming with confidence about their self-worth and abilities could still say all those things but in a different and more subtle way.Sometimes it’s after leaving their presence that you realize that there was in fact a hint of gasconade from the conversation you’d just had with them. With the first group, you immediately see when the bragging ‘placards’ and flags are raised and your reaction most times is a mixture of eye rolling (mental or physical), disgust and pity(that is if you are otherwise not brimming with admiration and envy o, ehen). Whereas with the other group of people with too much self-confidence, they just drop subtle hints and may even talk about themselves but their facial expressions, the tone of their voice and how they say what they need to say would never make you think they are being pompous (badt guyz

The last question is, are you TO BRAG OR NOT TO BRAG? Well, who am I to answer that question for you? What I WILL say is, in all things you do, be humble. And even if it has to do with bragging (in this case), please do your best to brag with humility, if there’s any such thing

Letter to God II

A LETTER TO GOD

Angeldee Blog

Dear God,

Writing to You appears more real
Than what human beings call ideal
So many questions on the queue
Free-flowing-thoughts without a cue

My heart can take the aches no more
My legs have brought me to Your door
I’m in a crowd yet feel alone
I would have called, You have no phone.

I am the brave entrapped in cave
Deprived of all You gladly gave
This is to tell You how I feel
In my world nothing seems real.

Birth and death you made good friend
One to start and one to end
Is this design to check us all?
I wonder why we always fall.

Why does this heart of mine grow sick?
Is it because my love they kick?
Why is the TRUTH in no man’s land?
LIES the world has made a brand.

I’m feeling sick, Oh Dear God!
I have been beaten with…

myth on nudity

We frequently see people who would not be seen dead without their clothing on. Clothing is often used to portray an image that is different from the person’s perceived inner deficiencies. It is a form of artificiality or masking that they outwardly project to cover up any personality or emotional defects they think they have. People tend to feel that by hiding behind clothing they can metaphorically cover themselves and deny others exposure to the inner-self they perceive to be crippled. The need to do this most commonly occurs in people with low self-esteem.

We often create a series of attitudes and belief systems to compensate for these inadequacies. They also develop a series of masks to `cover up’ the weaknesses. For example, the person who feels weak deep down will often put on a ‘tough’ personality mask and adopt an aggressive posture.

Society create the belief that clothing is an essential to life itself, rather than a practical and fun auxiliary. The tragedy is that many have blindly accepted this. The average person thinks of clothing as one of the necessities of life that transcends mere protection and expands into the realm of personality, character and self-worth

Many religions choose to perceive sexual activity as a sin, and by association, choose to see nudity as a sin also. Some religions use this argument as a way of manipulating people into feeling guilty about nudity. Guilty people then think they need the church to forgive them.
They forget that the idea of clothing came after Adam had sinned against God .man was created perfectly naked until sin came. If there was no sin,we would be roaming the street naked.

When is it wrong to be naked? A naked new born baby is not considered wrong or bad. At what age does this child become bad? Is it 18 months or when they are three. A naked two year old on the beach is generally considered normal and inoffensive. So when is a child not a child? Is it four years old or is it ten years old? People with issues around nudity will often say it is when they reach school age, and that would be five years old. That concept infers that when a naked child on the beach is 4 years 364 days 23 hours and 59 minutes old it is a healthy child with a good attitude to life. One minute later, when the child turns five it is suddenly a naughty, sinful child because he/she is still naked! That concept is obviously a falacy.

What is the big deal abouut nudity? It is not violence.no one is killed. Just natural human body. We are all born naked.

Ebola Experts Warn of an African ‘Apocalypse’

At an emergency hearing in Washington on Thursday afternoon, major players in the fight against Ebola in West Africa addressed the outbreak that has stolen the lives of more than 900. Leaders from health agencies and humanitarian efforts addressed the need for increased support, as one called the current state of affairs in West Africa “apocalyptic.”
Rep. Christopher Smith, the chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Africa and Global Health, opened the hearing by urging the speakers to clear the air on a “grave issue” that has “gripped” the mass media for weeks. “We hope to gain a realistic understanding of what we’re up against while avoiding sensationalism,” he told the floor. Here are the takeaways:

The outbreak is getting worse.
It’s already an unprecedented outbreak, CDC Director Dr. Tom Frieden says, and the number of infected and killed by Ebola will likely soon outnumber all other Ebola outbreaks in the past 32 years combined. According to the CDC, there have already been more than 1,700 suspected and confirmed cases of Ebola in West Africa, and more than 900 deaths—numbers that Frieden later called “too foggy” to be definitive. Ken Isaacs, the vice president of Program and Government Relations for Samaritan’s Purse, painted an even bleaker picture. According to the World Health Organization, West Africa has counted 1,711 diagnoses and 932 deaths, already, which could represent only a small fraction of the true number. “We believe that these numbers represent just 25 to 50 percent of what is happening,” said Isaacs.

Naija fights ebola, egypt fight atheist

Minister of Religious Endowments Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa approved a plan that was prepared by several scholars, sociologists and psychiatrists to confront atheism.
The measure aims to raise awareness among Egypt’s youth of the dangers of atheism on morals, beliefs and nationalism.
The plan also entails answering the misconceptions of atheists through workshops, social media and a hotline that offers support to atheists and their families.
The project will be supervised through a committee of Al-Azhar scholars

The plan aims to confront the atheistic “phenomenon” by making the youth aware of the danger it poses for religion, morality, and patriotism. Part of the plan also consists of “curing” atheists psychologically, religiously, and socially

In addition, the scheme focuses on collecting and studying all precedent cases made by atheists and proving them wrong, giving obligatory training by experts in psychiatry, sociology, and Islamic jurisdiction, and training university students and young ex-atheists to take part in the oppositional phenomenon. Other plans include “preventive” campaigns for youth and targeting atheism from its core roots and popular areas of expansion. A training program forimamsand youth who wish to take part in this initiative is also part of the plan.
A Facebook page under the name of the “”- which roughly translates to “using rationality” – a slang phrase used to invite people to reconsider and think matters through – will be created to serve as a public form of communication with youth. The aim behind the page is to provide a platform for questions by atheists, and also agnostics, to be answered and to provide methods of assistance for their family members to use

What if men got pregnant?

I overheard ladies chating on this issue and it got me thinking. What if the child birth function was transfered to men. What if men get pregnantCan men really bear the burden of pregnancy for nine months?

Men can bear the pain but wouldnt like to. Nine month is way to long. No man wants to be tied down to a project for a long time. Men like to be on the move. If men were pregnant, there ought to be a shortcut. Scientist would have discovered a way to reduce gestation period to a month.

Since men crave for sex so much that they forget the use of protection, the rate of unwanted pregnancy would be high. The pregnancy would be lost even before it reachess one-month old. Dont expect him to stop drinking beer during pregnancy. Infact beer would be taking along side pills to prevent developmentof the child.
Abortion would be legally advertised.

God has his reasons .
